Our sustainability strategy is aligned with our chosen 13 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals where we aim to make a positive impact.

1 No poverty

Over 46% of people in sub-Saharan Africa are defined by the World Bank as living in extreme poverty and lack access to electricity. There is a strong correlation between GDP per capita and power consumption per capita. At Savannah, we believe that developing both hydrocarbon AND renewable energy assets is critical to addressing energy poverty in Africa. Our strategy is to responsibly develop the energy resources needed today while supporting the growth of cleaner power solutions in the future.

3 Good health and wellbeing

Energy is critical to enabling and sustaining quality of life. This can be seen by the positive correlation between power consumption per capita and life expectancy and lifetime health outcomes. Savannah supports the health and wellbeing of our employees through our comprehensive health insurance and employee benefits package.

SDG-4.svg

4 Quality education

We deliver a full programme of on-the-job and classroom-based learning to our employees. Our social impact investment in our host countries and communities reflects our commitment to advancing education, training and skills development.

SDG-6.svg

6 Clean water and sanitation

Our social impact investment in our host countries and communities focuses on improving local living standards, including the provision of drinking water through the construction of local community water boreholes and wells in Nigeria and Niger.

SDG-7.svg

7 Affordable and clean energy

We are focused on providing both hydrocarbon and renewable energy in Africa. We supply gas enabling approximately 20% of Nigeria’s available thermal electricity generation capacity, while our Power Division is seeking to develop a portfolio of large-scale renewable energy projects across Africa, alongside pursuing opportunities in operating power assets across both thermal and renewable generation.

SDG-8.svg

8  Decent work and  economic growth

Responsible procurement, local content and tax payments support decent work and economic growth. We source local talent from our host countries and communities through long-term employment and supplier relationships, with 99% local content in Nigeria and 100% in Niger in 2025. Our Total Contributions to our host countries in 2025 were US$92.3 million.

SDG-9.svg

9  Industry, innovation and infrastructure

Since 2014, we have invested approximately US$1.7 billion in the provision of hydrocarbons’ infrastructure in Nigeria and Niger. Our Power Division is developing a portfolio of large-scale, greenfield renewable power projects across Africa, alongside pursuing investment opportunities in both operating renewable and thermal power assets.

SDG-10.svg

10 Reduced inequalities

Access to energy is essential for economic development and human progress, and plays a key part in reducing inequality. We also strongly believe that diversity builds a strong workforce and improves business performance. We are committed to being an equal opportunities employer in all of our countries of operation.

SDG-7.svg

11 Sustainable cities and communities

For much of Africa, access to reliable and affordable power remains a critical challenge for cities and communities. We aim to develop businesses and projects that deliver meaningful impact, and through our investments support the creation of inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable communities in our host countries.

SDG-7.svg

12 Sustainable consumption and production

The EU has endorsed natural gas as a transition fuel under its sustainable taxonomy. In Nigeria, we supply gas enabling approximately 20% of Nigeria’s available thermal power generation capacity. Alongside this our Power Division is developing a portfolio of large-scale greenfield renewable energy projects across Africa and is pursuing opportunities in operating power assets across both thermal and renewable generation.

SDG-13.svg

13 Climate action

Our approach to respecting the environment and our commitment to minimising GHG emissions, where practicable, makes a direct contribution to tackling climate change. Alongside this our Power Division is developing a portfolio of large-scale greenfield renewable energy projects across Africa and is pursuing opportunities in operating power assets across both thermal and renewable generation.

SDG-15.svg

15 Life on land

Our Stubb Creek facilities in Nigeria are located within the protected Stubb Creek Forest Reserve, where our Biodiversity Action Plan aims to actively protect and preserve local biodiversity.

SDG-16.svg

16 Peace, justice and strong institutions

We maintain high standards of governance, conduct and accountability through stringent policies, regulations and work practices. These include our Human Rights, Anti-Corruption and Anti-Money Laundering policies, a whistleblowing hotline and other supporting mechanisms, such as our Code of Conduct. We have been a full member of the EIT since December 2022.
