Kojo Baah
IT Support Technician

My IT internship with Savannah started in June 2021 via the Sequoia Platform. Sequoia is a not-for-profit organisation which looks to provide employment opportunities together with entrepreneurship and education support for young people from diverse and under-represented backgrounds in the UK. Savannah provided me with the flexibility to continue my BEng Computer Science degree at Anglia Ruskin University,  alongside working in the London office part time. During my internship I was encouraged to take on many responsibilities which are necessary to running a successful IT service desk like Savannah’s which currently provides IT support to over 200 employees in the UK and Africa. Each day has brought different challenges but I was given the opportunity to make decisions on my own and learn from them. Throughout the internship I had a mentor who continued to help bring my skills and knowledge from my lectures and studies into the professional working environment. At the same time, my time at Savannah enriched my degree studies with practical experience which I feel has helped contribute to my achieving a First class honours degree upon graduation this year. Overall the internship programme has been an incredibly valuable experience and has provided me with a good foundation for my future career in IT. Indeed I am delighted to have been offered a permanent position at Savannah following the completion of my stuides. I will take the internship experience with me throughout my career and I also hope to become a mentor for future interns at Savannah.

Courtney Archer
Investor Relations and Communications Assistant

I started my role at Savannah Energy through the Sequoia Platform in June 2021. Sequoia is a not-for-profit organisation which looks to provide employment opportunities together with entrepreneurship and education support for young people from diverse and under-represented backgrounds in the UK. My internship began immediately after completing my Economics degree from the University of East London. This enabled me to implement the knowledge I gained from my course directly into my professional career. The internship at Savannah helped me develop a multitude of skills and enabled me to gain a better understanding of what to expect in the working world. I was provided with mentorship and additional training courses throughout which helped me build my own personal portfolio of professional skills. Additionally, it was stimulating to be able to work as part of a team.

After six months at Savannah as an Investor Relations and Communications Intern, I was delighted to be offered a permanent role as an Investor Relations and Communications Assistant.
